Introducing Ashlynn Roddy
Hello everyone! My name is Ashlynn and I am a junior Psych major minoring in criminal justice and nutrition. Everyone always asks what those have to do with each other and it’s because I want to be either a clinical psychologist (where I may have to work with anorexics or bulimics so a nutrition background would be helpful) or a rehabilitation officer in a prison (hence the criminal justice minor). I recently turned 20 in July and was born in raised in Greenville, SC about an hour and a half away from Columbia.

I try to make my health and fitness a priority in my life as I feel it is a great stress reliever and obviously great for a person as well. I played basketball for 12 years and was the captain of my team sophomore through senior year of high school.

By the time I was a senior in high school I got really into running and ran my first half marathon. Summer after freshman year of college my best friend and her family ran a race called RAGNAR in Canada where we collectively ran 250 miles in two days nonstop, it was definitely of of the coolest experiences I’ve had. Last year I finally ran a full marathon at the Columbia Run Hard race after 6 months of training and was one of the most rewarding experiences to know all your hard work paid off!
Since being in college I have met some great friends who I know will be here for a lifetime including my room mate from freshman year. Her name is Isabel and we instantly connected and became best friends and still remain close junior year!

I am so excited for this class and look forward to meeting all of you guys, even if it is virtual!
